Each day we consume Earth’s valuable resources and share a responsibility in reversing the impact our behavior and habits have on the environment.

For The Next brings together everyday people, who want to help make a positive impact, with a community of environmental nonprofit organizations that share their ideals. We are the place for you and environmental nonprofits to connect. For The Next allows for a personalized experience with the capability to search for causes you care about and find local organizations working to protect, restore and rejuvenate our world.

Dedicated to building a community of credible environmental nonprofits, For The Next conducts a detailed due diligence process with each nonprofit. We’ve simplified the donation process, allowing you the unique opportunity to connect with and donate to multiple organizations in one centralized online location.

In addition to providing a user-friendly donation system, For The Next strives to educate and bring together a community for sharing information about sustainable living and ways we can make a difference in our everyday lives.

For The Next was conceived in October 2008 by Ryan Russell during his final MBA studies at George Fox University. During this time Ryan experienced a renewed awareness of his behaviors and choices as an individual, parent and leader. A deep desire was laid on his heart to help reverse his impact on the planet.

Inspired by Yvon Chouinard and his work creating the nonprofit organization 1% For The Planet, Ryan realized if millions of individuals brought together one percent of their income, they could have an impact greater than a single large donation by one person or business. For The Next is a reflection of Ryan's personal declaration to give one percent of his income to environmental efforts, as well as his desire for the environment to be made better for his children to experience.

Ryan's passion was contagious and soon For The Next was formed. Initially introduced as My 1 Percent, the name changed in the fall of 2009 to For The Next. The team discovered their mission encompassed more than mathematical percentages given to nonprofits, but was about connecting people to a community of environmental efforts. Our name, For The Next, highlights one of our organizations inspirations: ensuring future generations enjoy the beauty and wonders of our world. We continue the idea of individuals donating one percent of their income to environmental nonprofits.

For The Next is a different kind of organization. We maintain the smallest team possible, which enables incredible agility. Our management team accepts no pay or benefits. Instead it is quite the opposite. For The Next is primarily funded by the management team because we believe in our mission and put all of our energy into making it a reality.

For The Next is a completely transparent organization. We publish everything on our website to be viewed.

To uphold the integrity of our mission and vision, For The Next created a Leadership Advisory Board. The Leadership Advisory Board is responsible for advising the management team, helping to ensure all actions, communications and services reflect our mission.
